Blood Shanti is a quiet unassuming man with a Jah given gift for music.
As you can see from his concise biography in 'Who's Who' he has worked with the cream of the 
European based and Jamaican based artists and is noted as a top class drummer who has toured 
the four corners of this Earth.

He is the cornerstone of all 'Falasha recordings' productions.

He has also produced other artists as an independent producer.

His first solo album 'Pure Spirit' was very well received by the music press and record buying public 
alike and brought Blood from out of the shadows and into the limelight.
For now no longer could he be anonymous in the studio or secreted behind his drum kit,he had to 
sing!

Any drummer will tell you that playing the drums is 100% concentration to be able to keep the track
that you are playing from disintegrating into a timing mess. 
The drummer and the bassist must lock to provide the timing for the whole band.

The element of singing with the art of projecting a song and striking up a rapport with the audience 
this also very difficult.
It is a craft that has to be learnt. Not so bad if you are the singer because you can practise this craft.
Many people can sing in the bath / shower or studio but could not sing on a stage.
They have no stage craft. 

But what if you are the drummer as well as the singer. Blood Shanti plays the drums and sings at
the same time.
To achieve this Blood had to practise for months before he could feel comfortable with doing the
two things at the same time.
That takes dedication and a lot of skill.
Why didn't we get another drummer to free up Blood to concentrate on singing?
Well we tried this, but found that due to the individual traits of all drummer that they didn't feel 
comfortable playing the patterns as intended.
This led to timing problems so Blood reverted to the old adage "If you want something done well,
do it yourself ".

People have remarked on the fact that our music doesn't sound like anyone else's. 
This in the most part is down to Blood production talents and the quirky off centre poly- rhythms
that he creates.

The music that people create is based on the experiences and influences that have shaped their lives,
Blood is no exception.
The songs that he creates are an outpouring of  his experiences and observations ie his soul.
If you get the chance to see Blood Shanti and the Shanti Ites perform please take it.
