THE
SPIDER SPINS AN EVERMORE INTRICATE WEB
We have by now acquired
an overview of how messages can be sent and how the Spider
is able to monitor them.
Over the next few pages I will
demonstrate how the Spider can if it wants to, monitor
each and every one of you reading these pages. Again I must stress
that 'we' are not 'Conspiracy Theorists' or paranoid, but everything
you read in these pages is not only possible, it is happening
every day to thousands of normal law abiding citizens throughout
the world.
CASE STUDY:
A 25 year old professional man.
- He has a wife and two children.
- He has a mortgage from a building
society on his home.
- He has a current account and
saving account with a large bank.
- The bank has also provided him
with a credit card.
- He has a company car and fuel
card.
- He has a mobile phone with itemised
billing to separate he business from the personal calls.
- He has itemised billing on his
home phone for the same reason.
- He has a laptop computer provided
by his employer which he uses at home to send e-mails and surf
the net.
He wakes up in the morning before his wife and children. He checks
his e-mail, acknowledging and replying to them.
He sends a few e-mails himself.
He makes a few calls on his mobile while checking the house phone
answer machine for calls.
He checks the post and notices another mis-directed letter. Right
name wrong post code.
He grabs a quick glass of fruit juice and briefcase in hand heads
out to his company car.
Top of the range sports model with the latest 'Geo-positioning
Satellite' gizmo and an alarm that sends out an electronic tracking
signal telling the receiving station that it has been stolen.
As he walks to his car he looks up and sees the security cameras
which cover the whole of this new estate on which he has brought
his new house.
- He is happy in the knowledge
that with the 24 hour patrols and security cameras, his family
is secure.
He uses the electronic key to deactivate the car alarm and to
open the car doors.
- He gets into the car and starts
the engine. The satellite gizmo screen burst into life and a detach
female sounding computer generated voice tells him of the traffic
situation on his normal route to work.
The gizmo is cool because it memorises the routes that he takes
and the times that he takes them.
- So unless he is not going to
work on a weekday morning all he has to do is to say "New
route" and the gizmo will ask him "Where are you are
going?" And on his answer will plan various alternative
routes to his destination avoiding any traffic congestion.
He pulls out of the driveway passing over sensors in the tarmac
that registers on the computer in the security guard's post telling
him that a vehicle is approaching.
The security cameras lock on to the approaching car and the number
plate is scanned. The small electronic tag that is attached to
the windscreen (a transponder) transmits a signal to a receiver
that primes the exit system.
The guard is waiting to greet him as he approaches the exit barrier
to the estate.
He stops in front of the barrier and inserts his personal card
into the card reader by the driver's side of the barrier and
the barrier lifts.
If the transponder signal, the car registration and the personal
id card do not match, the system will go into alarm mode.
Defensive barriers will raise from the ground to stop the car
crashing through the exit. Alarms will sound, the police will
be automatically called by the computer system and the guard
will train his gun on him until the police arrives.
The guard can only raise the barrier in the event of an emergency. No
estate id card, no entry or exit.
As he drives onto the highway, he remarks to himself as to the
top dollar security, the best that money can buy that has been
installed on this exclusive, high rent estate.
