Brief Biography Of Aba  Shanti I  / Falasha recording :

Aba was introduced to 'Roots & Culture' by his father Alan (he ran a sound system) at a early age.

He went on to become the M.C. for 'Jah Tubby's Sound', travelling up and down the country chatting his conscious lyrics over heavy dub plate mixes.
The coming of 'Ragga-Muffin / Dancehall' music (sic) in the 80's , Roots sound systems were forced to take a back seat or to shutdown altogether.
Fortunately Aba never lost his vibe or his belief in the 'Father' and after taking over the running of 'Jah Tubby's' set made his debut at the 1990 Leicester Carnival playing his own brand of dubplates.
In 1993 along with his brothers Blood Shanti / Shanti Roots and brethren Samari (Shanti-Ites) released their first single 'Tear Down Babylon' (Aba 001.)
After the success of this single they released another single in late 1994
entitled 'Zulu Warrior' (Aba 002).
The response was so positive that in late 1995 the Shanti-Ites along with some like minded brethren decided to form a record company to release their brand of conscious music.
This company was Falasha Recordings' and the first release on this new label was 'Positive Vibration' (Aba 12001).
1996 saw the first album release from this new company which was:
'The Wrath Of Jah' (Aba CD/LP 001) featuring a small selection of the vast catalogue of dubs that we have in store for you.
The next release was the debut vocal album by Blood Shanti 'Pure Spirit'
(Aba CD/LP 002) featuring the first elease by the Shanti-ites 'Tear Down Babylon'.

The next release was the debut vocal album by Blood Shanti 'Pure Spirit'
(Aba CD/LP 002) featuring the first release by the Shanti-ites 'Tear Down Babylon'.This has been followed by the
next in the saga of Dub albums 'Jah Lightening & Thunder (Aba CD/LP 003)
which was released in Dec'96 and is another step in our musical journey.

STOP PRESS:..............As mentioned on the front cover. We are in the process of setting up a musical collective to be known as: The Shanti-Ites,and we would like to hear from anybody that feels the vibe.
We know this is a radical departure from the way that most bands are set up ie; offering a chance to people who's only involvement in the recording industry is buying the records.
As I have stated before, the questionaire was done so that we could see how we could improve our service to our customers based on their responses and to implement the changes for the benefit of all. This is one such change. This is not a gimmick or some piece of sensationalism. But a true and honest way of progression.
There will be NO discrimination!
So if you've heard the music and felt the vibe and feel that you could play a part in the band, then please call the number given.
No timewasters please. This is a serious offer.

Too many record companies remain detached and have an off hand way in how they deal with the very people that are providing them with a living. Also some people are having difficulty in obtaining our products in their areas. To redress this imbalance Falasha Recordings will have a stall at most if not all of Aba dances and shows. So that you can come and buy our products and speak to us directly about our business and associated matters concerning Aba- Shanti-I.
Be warned this is not a counselling service. But that does not mean we cannot have a friendly chat.
This is another change brought about by the response to the questionaire. (Hello Javeedar).

Blood Shanti will soon start giving lessons in the fine art of drumming for which a charge will be made. Please see the flyers on our stand or come and talk to the man himself.
This is in response again to inquiries made on the questionaire.
Other services will be avilable when the plans have been put in place.I will keep you posted.

As a company we are trying to do the best we can in our own small way to break down the barriers that divide us and to build bridges to reach those who feel that they are marooned on a island in a troubled sea.

We are all Jah's children,no matter what name you care to call Him.
