Geo-Positioning Car Alarm system (gizmo):

The state of the art gizmo that tracks your car's position and shows you all those alternative routes to avoid the traffic;it is like a beacon in the night.

The system uses US military tracking satellites to triangulate the car's position.

The gizmo itself has a unique id number which is transmitted on a regular basis. To all intensive purposes it works like the 'Transponder' does in an aircraft.

The gizmo sends its unique number to the satellites via relay stations for validation. If the number is validated then the request for positioning information is sent to the satellites.

The satellites then scan for your unique id's position on the surface of the Earth. Once found the information is sent via the ground stations to the gizmo which will show you your position on a map overlay.

Validation requires that the system recognises that your id is licensed and current.

Licensing requires that the details of the owner / keeper of the vehicle and the vehicle itself in which the gizmo is in installed is registered.

The Spider can key in your id and see where you are. It can also block id's so your system is no longer functional,

just like airtime operators can with mobile phones.

If the government had said to you that they were going to electronically tag you so that they could monitor your every move, you would be up in arms and demonstrating on the streets about infringement of civil liberties.

A variation of this system called 'Tagging' is used by the penal systems in the US and UK to monitor certain types of offenders inside and outside of correctional institutions.

Don't think that to avoid being tracked by your gizmo all you have to do is turn it off. Wrong!

When you turn off the gizmo all you are doing is turning off the screen, so the polling (as it is known) of your gizmo

continues.

What is the use of having an alarm system that can pin point the position of your car if it is stolen, if all the thieves have to do is turn it off!

The Spider can request and be given by law, the shot footage on any of the above named systems, whether they be public or private.So by a combination of the above the Spider can have a visual record of your daily movements.

The famous case in the UK on April 26th 1999 where a TV presenter called Jill Dando was murdered is a case in point.

The police where able to show CCTV footage of Jill Dando movements from various sources.

She was shown walking along the high street, going into shops as well as footage of her in those shops.

She was shown extracting money from a ATM. They knew how much she had taken and the time she had taken it.

They showed her crossing the street to get back into her parked car and then footage of her in a shopping centre a few miles away. They were able to show footage of her driving her car around one of the busiest intersections in the country,

the Hammersmith roundabout in London. On average tens of thousands of cars negotiate that roundabout everyday, but they were they able to pinpoint her car.

From her credit card bill they knew what she had brought and when.

From her mobile phone they not only knew who she had called , but who had called her and when.

From her home phone the same information, including numbers that had called her home number and were not answered because she was out shopping.

They could track Jill Dando up to the point where she turned off the high street to returned home and was murdered outside her front door.

They do not have the murder on camera as the street Jill lived on did not have CCTV installed.

But they were able to come up with a list of possible suspects by viewing all the CCTV footage from various street locations within half a mile of Jill's address which had been shot at the time of her murder.

Her murder at this moment in time is still unsolved.

The Spider was able to track Jill for hours and to be able to find her among all the other people also captured at the same time on the various CCTV footage.
